Atikokan Area Bear Hunting

Our area is well known for both the size of the bear, and their abundance.

Although the fall Bear Hunt season runs from August 15th to October 15th, we stop booking bear hunts as of September 15th when the small game season opens. 

The shooting of grouse and duck changes the bear patterns and tends to make them more nocturnal. At this time, the bears tend to become more erratic in hitting the baits. Therefore, we only hunt the first four weeks of the season to ensure you the best success.

Unlike other bear hunt outfitters, we are actively involved in the hunt. Rather than giving you three or four baits when you arrive, showing you what bait to use, and wishing you good luck, we bait for you every day.

This gives you a more consistent baiting pattern.

We run a different set of 18 to 22 baits each week and have six hunters in camp each week. As hunters arrive, we pick out the best six baits in the line and put our hunters on them. As the hunters are successful, it opens up more baits for the hunters who have not scored yet.

One of our staff is always the last one back to the lodge each night. His job is to make sure everyone finds their way back, or helps them decide how far to pursue a crippled bear at night, or maybe helps them get their trophy out of the bush! Once everyone is back at the lodge we all sit down for supper and discuss what sort of day it was. This way we learn from each other and the guides. Hopefully someone is celebrating!

The Bear Hunt Package includes baited stands, license, export permit, lodging, meals, and the use of a boat and motor. The boat has nothing to do with the hunt, but is provided in the event you score early and want to take advantage of some of the excellent fishing in the area!
